Basic Function: Compute, classify, and calculate the fundamental aspects of a firm’s financial recordkeeping, including recording financial transactions, managing accounts payable and receivable, and reconciling bank statements and posting transactions.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop system to account for financial transactions by establishing a Chart of Accounts
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  • Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
  • Perform detailed research/adjustment functions
  • Make sure all invoices are issued timely and follow-up on customer collections according to terms
  • Record cash receipts and make bank deposits
  • Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions and reconciling entries
  • Maintain and balance general ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries, prepare trial balance and reconciling errors
  • Receive, approve and or decline invoices in a timely manner; Pay invoices and maintain ledgers
  • Prepare profit and loss statement and balance sheet
  • Monitor firm’s assets
  • Assists with budget preparations
  • Provide information to the external accountant who creates the companies’ financial statements and tax preparations
  • Comply with federal, state and local accounting and txc rules by studying and enforcing adherence to policies and procedures; filing reports and advising management on needed actions
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to management as requested

Supervises: Eventually has opportunity to supervise accounting staff and outsourced activities

Qualification requirements:

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) with a concentration in accounting from 2 year college or Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) preferred
  • 1-3 years related experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including the ability to operate computerized accounting and spreadsheet programs; Currently the company uses Sedona for its operational and accounting software but an experienced candidate could help lead the implementation of a new ERP system
  • Leadership and supervisory experience may be required
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages and volume.
